Field Trips

April 30, 2018 Please join us on a field trip to De Leon Springs State Park located about one hour and thirty minutes from Big Cypress.

This 625 acres park is the spring overlooking beautiful Spring Garden Run, producing 19 million gallons of water a day at 72 degrees year-round. We will be guided by Ranger Sloane through a Butterfly Garden that has about 500 plants for the butterflies and hummingbirds.

We will take a leisurely stroll on the one-half mile paved Nature Trail to see the 600 year old cypress tree. We plan to have lunch at the Sugar Mill Restaurant located in a 100 year-old replica of the original 1830s sugar mill, where you can cook your own pancakes at the table.

We will carpool from Big Cypress leaving at 8:00 am arriving around 9:30 at the park.

Please wear or bring a hat, closed toe shoes, appropriate clothes, water, snack and bug repellent.

Please feel free to call, text or e-mail me. Georgette, 352-446-8380,

Please come join fellow members to take a drive out to Marc’s Green Isle Nursery. Green Isle is our sponsor for our native plant at our meetings.

Just a fun filled morning to buy and ask any questions regarding your Native Plants. If Marc has any blueberries, plan to pick, pay and take them home with you. If he is out, there are blueberries patches in Groveland that we will find and pick.

We will car pool from Big Cypress at 8:15, Saturday, May 5.
