Florida Native Plant Society – The Villages Chapter
Reminder that our regular 4th Friday meeting is July 24th; Guests are welcome

Time:  1:30 pm to 3:00 pm (we will start and end on time)
Location: Big Cypress Rec Center, 3110 Hendry Drive – Periwinkle Room

The FNPS Villages Chapter will host Dr. Robert Stamp as our distinguished guest speaker for the Friday July 24 meeting at 1:30 pm Big Cypress Recreation Center.  Dr. Stamp is a professor emeritus of environmental horticulture with the University of Florida. He currently serves as conservation chair for Orange Audubon Society and on the board of Audubon Florida.

Welcome and chapter highlights – Steve Turnipseed - 10 minutes
Silver Springs Native Garden – Jeff Kneisley - Park Services Specialist – 5 minutes
Presentation: Attracting Birds to your Garden – Dr. Robert Stamp - 60 minutes
Drawing for native plants
Arrive up to 30 minutes early to get tickets for the native plant chance drawing.

Membership
FNPS membership is tax deductible and runs 12 months from the date you sign up.  Forms and annual dues are accepted at the meeting or you can join on-line at www.fnps.org   We are getting closer to our 2015 goal of 100 paid memberships.  If you have not joined, please consider doing so. We met the goal of 100 paid members during this meeting.

Upcoming August 28th Meeting Presentation
August 28th regular 4th Friday monthly meeting presentation will be “Native Bees” by Native Bees - Dr. Cory Stanley-Stahr who is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Florida Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory.

Residential Landscape Conversions
Another of our 2015 goals is 10 yards are converted to native plant landscapes.  If you have converted a significant part of your lawn into a native plant landscape, please let us know. Four Native Plant Conversions so far.
