Each year at the state conference Landscape Awards are Presented.

There are several categories. Several of our members have won in the category of Residential Single Family. If you wish to apply The Villages FNPS Chapter will cover your entrance fee. 

The 2021 winner was interviewed on Lunch and Learn. There is a tour of her yard and she talks about the application process.

FNPS Landscape Awards for 2023

Deadline: Submit your application by August 1, 2023. 

Winners will be announced on October 1, 2023, kicking off the FNPS campaign to promote October as Native Plant Month.

2016 Landscape Award

2020 Landscape Award

Criteria: Residential Single Family:

  • 75% or more of the parcel must contain native plants
  • Minimum 2-year grow-in period before submittal
  • No plants listed on the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council’s Category I and II lists

Criteria: Butterfly or Wildflower Garden

  • 100% of the project must contain native plants
  • Minimum 1-year grow-in period before submittal
  • No plants listed on the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council’s Category I and II lists
  • Educational component (signage, tours, media article, etc.)
  • Plant species must occur naturally in that region of the state
  • Provide information on the origin of the site (soils, historical hydrology, etc.)
  • Provide comments regarding the success of pollinator/wildlife attraction in the garden
