Ocala National Forest

See Sand Hill Pine and Pine Flatwood Communities - Tuesday April 21, 2015

The outing to Ocala National Forest went exactly as planned.  Thanks to Georgette for arranging for the bus, going beyond the call of duty by collecting individual lunch preferences then ordering food.  There were 15 paying participants (fully booked).

Trip Briefs:

We departed Big Cypress at 8:01 AM, picked up the food at Panera Bread in Sumter Landing (everything was ready to go), then met our guide, Jim Buckner in Ocala at 9:15 AM where we took a rest room break.  Then we were into the forest with a stop to see the Sand Hill Pine Scrub community and a second location to experience the High Pine Community (Longleaf Pine forest).  We ate our lunch at the Ocala Conservation Center then returned, arriving back at Big Cypress at 2:45 pm.
