Our FNPS Chapter in The Villages won the 2023 Conservation Grant from FNPS. The grant project worked on eradicating Melinis repens, an invasive grass that was destroying a habitat where Federally-endangered Warea Amplexifolia grows at Lake Griffin State Park. We presented "Snip, Vac, and Spray" at the FNPS State Conference this month.(4-2025) 90% of the invasive grass is gone, natives are flourishing in the project zones, and we're excited to see and count the Warea when it starts popping up. Bloom time is August-October.
