Warea

WareaSeptember, 2023

Vicky McLean and Marcia Gould reported on the Grant for Warea at Lake Griffin State Park from the Park Manager. The Warea plant is a federally listed endangered species of the United States. Vicky McLean passed around a sign-up sheet for volunteers, needed each Thursday, 8 AM-9 AM for the remainder of September through October, to vacuum seeds off of invasive grasses to protect the Warea plant. Vicky asked for a Facebook Post for volunteers from our FNPS Chapter. Vicky will be away for five weeks starting Sept. 22. Marcia will manage the volunteer sign-up. Once that is done, the Chapter will purchase herbicide and Dye soon to be applied by Lake Griffin contractors, to give the Warea plant more space to flourish. Sue Egloff will send a blast email to members asking for more volunteers. Mark Knapke, The Lake Griffin State Park Manager, will do a short presentation to the Chapter at the December 8 th General Meeting.
