Separate Turf and Ground Cover

Keeping Neighbor's Grass and Ground Cover Separated

October 25, 2019, 10-minute meeting presentation

by Steve Turnipseed – Most of us with Native yards will have a ground cover that abuts neighbor’s grass.  We are required to have a single species of groundcover, of uniform height.  Ground cover and grass will mix.  Deed restrictions limit our options to keep them separated.  We can’t do anything that would impede access to the area, mowing, or drainage.

12-inch “DMZ” - You might like to have a zone of mulch or rock between your yard and the neighbors but current this is not allowed in The Villages. The mulch can wash into the neighbor's yard or the street.

Mechanically edged area – Small mechanically edged area can work.

Herbicide anything trying to grow into your ground cover.

A 4”-5” edging composite is not allowed.

Talk to a member for more suggestions or email Steve.
